The DECO Celebrates Grand Opening With $4,000 Community Investment
The DECO, a new mixed-use multi-family community consisting of 89 apartment homes, 4,800 SF of retail space recently celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting and open house on Wednesday, August 4 in Shakopee, MN.
At the event, Enclave’s Co-Founder and CEO of Construction, Ben Meland, announced a $4,000 Community Builder Fund to be awarded to a project or cause that would benefit Shakopee and the surrounding area. The fund will support two local projects or causes; a $3,000 recipient to be chosen by Enclave and a $1,000 fan-favorite recipient determined by social media. Nominations are now open, and additional information is available at thedecoapt.com/communitybuilder.
The location of the former City Hall, Enclave worked closely with the City to resurrect the site and bring added vibrancy to the downtown community, a unique challenge given the site size of just over half an acre.
“Mayor Bill Mars and the City of Shakopee have been incredibly supportive in making this project a reality,” said Brian Bochman, Developer at Enclave. “The heart of downtown Shakopee, The DECO is an investment in the community and surrounding area, and we look forward to the long-term positive impact the project will have in promoting well-being, health and happiness of community members and visitors.”
The DECO was meticulously developed and designed by Enclave to reflect Shakopee’s rich history, deriving inspiration from the 1920s art deco era. The first-floor lobby features expansive imagery collected from the Shakopee historical society to incorporate the site’s past.
“We are very excited to welcome the DECO to Downtown Shakopee,” said Jennifer Brewington, Economic Development Specialist at the City of Shakopee. “Expanding a permanent resident base to support retailers, restaurants and service providers will have a vast economic benefit for the downtown. Our vision for Downtown Shakopee is an active, prosperous, and culturally rich city center that attracts both residents and visitors and the DECO meets the goal of continuing to revitalize downtown.”
The pet-friendly building includes resident-focused amenities like underground parking, bike storage, outdoor amenity deck and clubroom that promote connection and a sense of community. The site’s proximity to area parks, trails and near-by shopping and eateries make The DECO an attractive location for potential renters.
Enclave continues to work with the City of Shakopee on retail tenants, but has not yet announced any official tenants.
The building is now leasing studio, one and two-bedroom apartment homes. For information on leasing, visit thedecoapt.com.
